A friend of mine lent me Steven Lynch's CD, and I thought he was pretty good.

Lewis Black still puts out some good stuff.

Eddie Izzard is by far the best stand up comedian. Bill Hicks, Chris Rock and others are good, but not even close to Eddie Izzard IMO.

Maybe not for everyone but I think his comedy is by far the most intelligent stand up I've seen. Requires a little knowledge of history, religion and people that everyone might not have heard of though. I've read somewhere when googling him that he was voted best stand up comedian ever by other stand up comedians.

I've seen 7 or so of his shows (all about 1h30 minutes) and the early ones are probably the best.

Glorious
Dress to Kill
Unrepeatable,

are my 3 favorites (his 2 newest Circle and Sexie are slightly worse)

DTK is one of the few comedy specials (along with a few Cosby's - the "Dentist" bit always kills me...) that I can watch over and over and over and still laugh.

Chris Rock and Kat Williams are my favorites. I watch them repeatedly just to watch their timing and setup.

Comedians of Comedy is great.

Zach Galifianakis greatly amuses me and I don't know why.

If you like your humor dry and English, check out Jimmy Carr. His act is very old-fashioned--he doesn't tell anecdotes, he just tells jokes and you'll either love or hate this about him. My entire opinion is based on one Comedy Central special and the jokes on his game show so I'm not sure if he's consistently funny.
