Default 200NL JJ overpair

Villain is a winning TAG, 20/16/4. This is my 3rd hand at the table so I don't know what he knows about me but my stats are about the same as his if he datamines. UTG is a big fish so CO may be raising with a weakish hand to isolate.

Any thoughts on my line postflop?

I think I would have bet the flop and re-evaluated once the T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] hit on the turn, depending on what Villain does.

With your stats, you don't do a lot of checking and calling. You must have felt weak after the flop. When I check with a vulnerable hand, I'm ready to give up. You continued and called off most of your stack to a good player that was telling you he had the best hand.

villian could easily have a medium pocket pair (88,77) and be betting based on your weakness on flop, putting you on two overs and charging you to draw. i would have liked to see a bet on the flop.

You realise that I want 88 and 77 to bet the turn and river, right?

Strongly think a flop bet is in order. CO could have a very wide variety of hands, but some kind of overcard/draw combo is quite possible...probably most likely. What's your plan if a K turns and CO bets? On the flop, I'm using my position, sensing his weakness, and tossing out a good sized bet to take this sucker down now. If called on the flop, I play it very carefully on future streets.

Now, playing as you did, I don't mind the turn and river play. It's possible, but not likely, that he checked a T on the flop. Maybe he picked up a 2nd draw with a hand like KQc on the turn.

So...bet the flop. But after you decide to check the flop, fine.

I like the flop check if your overpair is bigger. As it is with JJ, I like flop bet to take it down now or make him draw incorrectly to his six outs and possible backdoor flush draw.

AA/KK here, you dont worry so much about AK/AQ and so you can let him maybe fire one more time with his 77/88 or whatever pair if he thinks you're slowing down with whiffed slick.

playing that passively after reraising seems so bad, flop bet 100%, you dont really mind him folding rather that sucking out by hitting trips/set/flush/straight draw he could have, shorthanded he could easily have AT or KT, T9, you're lucky none of the draws got there but if 8s shows up you are in a terrible spot
