Default Dealer pushes pot to me (the loser)

Playing live 2/4 LHE the other day I was dealt KQo, long story short, the guy on my right ended up winning the pot with a his A2o by pairing his Ace on the river. I had only a pair of Q's. Showdown we both turn over our cards, dealer looks at both of them sees both hands clearly(so I thought)and pushes the smallish size pot to me. I looked at the dealer and the guy who won the pot and waited for one of them to say something. The dealer said nothing so I knew he had just erred but the guy next to me who was very cool kind of paused, so I pushed the chips to him and said nice hand. He said, "I thought that I had won but I wasn't sure, but I thank you very much for being so honest". He then proceeded to put out my next blind for me. I could have just kept the chips but that wouldn't have been very cool at all. Agree?
