I almost never play in the day game because it's just no good. I mostly play HE these days (who doesn't?) but I keep an eye on the 08 at night and when the pots get big I know the line-up is good and I sometimes sit in. The pots will be 5-10x bigger than the day game. Then just 'play by the book', as boring as that is, and rake in the loot. But it IS boring.

I played thursday and it was incrediably loose passive, I took home $500 despite not knowing how to read the board properly for a low. So I came back on friday ready to cash in again, and dropped $700 and decided I need to learn a little about 08. So I read SuperSystem 2's chapter lats night and was up $95 today.

I'd say that that my impression of players today there were too many players playing too many weak hands preflop, but most of them seemed okay post flop (didn't chase poor draws too much, but didn't like to bet or raise). It definitely wasn't as loose as thursday, and it didn't seem like a goldmine. But take my opinion with a grain of salt, I've only played O8 four times.

Of course I sat in the 20-40 game for five minutes, dropped $190, and was really impressed by the horrible play I saw. I'm thinking of going back to it tomorrow.

I'm certain that you realize I meant 'generally speaking' about the day game. I know many of the players and it's usually better at night. So, naturally, when my 8-16 broke up I sat in the 08. Can I make a hand? No, I can not make a hand! Me: 1-2-4-6 suited A. Him: 3-5-7-Q. That makes HIM the favorite! Yessiree, I sure should be the one giving advice. I only lost $60 but, still! If just ONE of the 'should've' hands had come in it would've been a good night.

Anyhoo, in a thread around here somewhere I speculated that the 40 game might be better than the 20. Sooner or later I'm going to give it a whirl even though one of CA's 2p2'ers cautioned me that looks can be deceiving. I think that Percula (and myself) are more right than wrong in this case.

I don't know if anything compares to to 5-150.

When I rake a $5K+ pot in that game I will totally agree. But then again I have never dropped $2K in the 5-150 game either. LOL

Today a hispanic kid with about 2k in front of him and two coronas behindg him is playing super LAG.

[/ QUOTE ]

I saw this kid yesterday at table 30 and moved tables specifically for him. I had my stack up to exactly 600 and he was sitting on maybe 1200. I flop my set and fireworks go off in my head. Of course, he playes aggressive and ends up hitting a two-outer on the river to catch a boat larger than mine.

Nothing worse than moving tables just for one guy, then getting that hand to make your move and finally getting two-outed on the river.

Anyway, I'm hoping he'll be around for a few weeks. He's definitly got a target on his forhead for most of the regulars.
