You should now beat your wife. Give the cops a real reason to show up are your house.

Beat. Wife calls me at 1:30am and tells me someone just rang our door bell and she thinks they may be breaking in. I am 2 hours away (at Casino LDO) and can do nothing. She tries calling 911 but they cannot hear her because she is whispering and they hang up on her TWICE.

I call 911 from my cell and it takes a full ten minutes for them to route the call where it needs to go. I am now driving up the Garden State Parkway leaving AC with zero regard for safety or ticket avoidence. It's only 2am on a Saturday night there shouldn't be too many cops on the GSP right??? Lol

I also have two young children so the idea of someone breaking into my house while I am not there is just about one of the scariest things I can imagine.

I FINALLY get someone dispatched and then get the call from my wife that our neighbor, who had been on vacation, just got home and did not have their keys. They rang our door bell because they know we have a key to their house.

BEAT: Wife mistakes late night door bell for burglar and gives me heart attack from two hours away

BRAG: Wife was patrolling house with hammer and was ready to brain someone to protect her offspring

VARIANCE: See above.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm surprised she didn't smash you to pieces with the hammer when you used a key to get in.

How can your wife call you and speak loud enough for you to hear, but not loud enough for 911 to hear?

hate to tell u but 911 isn't going to "hang up" on anyone.. and police would have been dispached just from someone calling even if they couldn't hear them. Try calling and hanging up one time, see if the cops show up at your house.

Obviously you live in a different part of the country than I. Here in the metro Atlanta area, I've been hung up on. I've also gotten busy signals. And people say I'm crazy for carrying a gun.

Thank God those 911 calls have never been anything more serious than a couple auto accidents and when I came upon an old lady who fell and broke her hip in a parking lot.

This was sort of the point. 911 in NYC have some of the worst operators on the planet. For those calling the wife stupid try to understand that as a woman home alone with two young children the idea of someone breaking into your house is one of the most terrifying things you can imagine. We might worry about losing our stuff or getting your ass kicked, with them the worry is on a totally different level. Then add the kids to the mix and I think you have to see how easily the situation can get out of control.

It's state law here that they have to respond to hang ups.. I assumed it was that way everywhere.
