It can never happen. ARod has a no trade clause, and he ain't waiving it (he refused to waive it this off season). He wants to win a world series. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Greater California don't offer him the same opportunity to win as the yankees do this year, esp. if LAAAGC has to give up value for him. And LAAAGC doesn't have a third basemen to offer the Yankees in return, the Yanks aren't going to punt on this season by putting a scrub at third, esp. when they are already carrying a AAA level first basemen in Dougie Eychart.

And LAAAGC can't offer squat for ARod because of his opt out clause, it would only be a one year rental.

dom,

I don't mean to sound like a prick. But didn't you make the same post a while ago? Or am I just making things up again?

Thanks for reminding me how much I hate BobOjedaFan

Oh yea, Chone is absolutely awful, and I wouldn't be very happy if they got Weaver either. I think he's pretty overrated if you think he's going to become an ace.

Trade A-Rod for Santana and Wood or Kendrick and I would be very happy

ARod for Santana and Wood/Kendrick is still terrible.

sure, they are all under 23, but Santana is not going to be a stud. i expect him to stay at ERA>4. i have doubts about kendrick developing into a better hitter. he'll be 100 AVG+ with likely no power. and wood may become the next ARod, BUT HE IS STILL IN AA!!! Arod is 1 year removed from being mvp. let's not trade him for someone who won't be in the majors for at least a season. and besides, neither wood nor kendrick play third base!

Wood has been taking ground balls at 3rd. I'm an Angels fan and I wouldn't want to trade for A-Rod because he will likely opt out of his contract next year anyway

groundballs during ST. is that all it takes to start at 3B for the yankees?

(cue ARod's 24 errors at 3B joke)

any trade now doesnt really make any sense. the yankees aren't gonna wanna trade arod now that they there's no free agents to sign and replace him. the angels probably dont wanna trade much value for a v expensive one year rental. and arod would just cost himself money by agreeing not to opt out if hes traded.

that said, the weaver for arod is a crazy steal for the yankees. five cheap years of a good maybe great player is worth a lot more than 1-4 v expensive years of a great player

that's part of it, for sure. another major thing is getting him to anaheim this year, which he's not going to do if he's playing ss.

i guess i was a bit vague - he is more than capable at ss right now, it's just that in the future i don't think he's going to be able to handle it (at least from reports i've read..i haven't been able to see him play in person yet).

Anybody else think that whoever pays A-Rod next year is going to take a huge bath on the deal? Perhaps last year wasn't a fluke, and he's just slowing down with age.
