At this point it is purely speculation. A-Rod made a comment earlier this week about wanting to be wanted by the fans. That resulted in lots of talk about him moving on and the Angels just seem to be the most popular/plausible destination people are coming up with.

for the purposes of this exercise, i'll accept the hypothetical premise that the yankees are CONSIDERING trading ARod.

chances that he goes to LAA? no chance. halo's trading chips are the pitchers, and the yankees are VERY CONTENT with what they've got (plenty of options in the minors too). even if we consider a bat-for-bat trade, there's no chance that anderson and/or guerrero will be leaving LAA, and there's no chance yankees will even consider taking matthews. not to mention that the outfield is locked in for the yanks.

Nothing. This would be Arod's option to opt-out after the season and then they just need to pay him $175M or so.
