Default Re: statement: calling slightly -EV to build your stack can be correct

I'd be more likely to make that call on the flop rather than on the turn, for hte same $5, because of hte increased frequency that you'll have the stack size increase when you're on the flop with the draw.

However, I don't know exactly what the break-even point (in terms of future action with different stack sizes) is or anything like that.

I think you need to consider the presence of other good large stacks at the table. You might not want to have that stack against them, and you might not want to bloat the fish's stack if the other big stacks have position on that guy.

Finally, there are some fish that tighten up as soon as they get a big stack or realize that you're going to be calling them more.

I think you should run it once if you call.

My first idea was also to run it once. The next table shows the result of running it twice:

Result Chance Effect EV
Lose Lose 66.60% -180 -120
Win Win 2.96% 780 24
Win Lose 15.22% 300 45
Lose Win 15.22% 300 45
Average Effect -5

Result Chance Effect EV
Lose 81.82% -180 -147
Win 18.18% 780 141
Average Effect -5

The average effect stays the same. But the probability that I will win it both decreases so much that I prefer to run it once... because with +300 I will not be above the 1000 and that's the reason I am taking this -EV risk, runnint it twice would be so stupid that folding woudl be a better idea... (but I don't fold anyway )

I just wanted to explain in depth why running it twice is out of the question... The person who said it does not look like someone who makes a joke in his post...
