statement: calling slightly -EV to build your stack can be correct

statement: calling slightly -EV to build your stack can be correct

Who thinks this is correct, who thinks this is incorrect?

Example:
I bought in for 1000(max), some very bad players I definately have an edge over had big stacks.

I am dealt QTs. MP raises 40, they all call (pot 200), I decide to call. Flop 9J2 rainbow. I am the player on the button. They all check, the last player on my right bets (50), I (semi-bluff) raise (200), the rest fold, he called. The moment he called i knew i needed help and my raise was not correct this time, I just thought he wanted to steal the pot. Turn 7. The pot is 600 now. He goes all-in for 180 and sais to me: JUST FOLD I HIT MY SET OF NINES and he flips it open (let's assume that's allowed heads up). I know that i have 18.18% chance to win.

The break even point to call here vs a set is 171.40 (0.1818*(600+171.40)+0.8182*(-171.40))=0.

What would you do here you know that your call on average is -5.47... But you can build a stack to stack some more opponents (ahead )

Remark: The max buyin is EUR 1000. After this hand I will have: (fold) 760, (call) 580 or 1620 left.

The question: Do you call or do you fold?

What's the max you would call for: table image (don't mess with me), tilt-factor (get him on tilt later on), stack-factor. Would you call a

190 (EV -12)
200 (EV -18)
240 (EV -40)
300 (EV -80)
400 (EV -145)

I think this is much more frequently applicable in donkaments but obviously if you're in a game with a max buyin and you want to cover some real whales this has a lot of merit too

u play 1000nl and ask questions of a 100nl player. you really need a lesson on EV and what it means.
