I would replace Unbreakable with:

The Untouchables
Uncle Buck
Up in Smoke

Then again, I would recommend doing just about anything instead of watching Unbreakable.

Do not listen to this. Unbreakable rocks, and may well be the last good film MNS ever made.

Are you seriously going to review Crossroads starring Ralph Macchio????

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep, unless another 'C' gets suggested.

...Casino, Chasing Amy, Clerks, Clockwork Orange, Confidence, Crash (either), Crow, Cube...

Wow. You may be the first person I ever met with this opinion. With the exception of The Sixth Sense, I thought all of MNS' films were horrendous. I'd rather write a dissertation on Weird Al's UHF than even watch Unbreakable again.

Chasing Amy or Clerks I think, now I changed Dogma to Duel. I prefer C.A. for review, but as Clerks 2 is imminent, Clerks seems good. I'll think on it.

I too really, really enjoyed Unbreakable, but haven't seen it since it came out. I was gonna rewatch it and discuss first perception, ohters' opinions that it's a weak movie, and then second perception as part of the review. I think I'll still do that, cos I think it'll be an interesting debate.

I'm a big fan of M. Night -- I really like Village, even though it's his weakest effort.

My favorite of his is Unbreakable. Signs I also think is quite a bit better than most give it credit for with amazing moments, a lot of tense scenes, plus yet another thrilling conclusion.

With all the truly awful movies that come out, it's great to have a filmmaker like him giving far above the standard. Too bad a lot seem to dislike him.

Everyone I've met who doesn't like Unbreakable has the same complaints, that it's boring, it drags, etc. I see it as EXACTLY what good science fiction should be. It's a really tight plot with tight dialogue, and most of all a psychological examination of a character placed in a difficult position. I also like the fact that you get to see who a "supervillain" would more likely be in the real world; less Lex Luthor than tortured madman.

And it's just a damn cool idea.

I could watch both Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense over and over.

I should come clean on Signs and The Village. The Word on the Street was so bad that I have avoided seeing either one, especially since someone spoiled the latter for me. I will give them a try.

Without running the risk of spoiling the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it - my biggest complaint was the ending. It seemed very forced, as if MNS had to put in some crazy twist to appease fans of his first movie. I also felt that the dialogue was extremely forced. That being said, I'm looking forward to reading the review.

Oh, and to me, Signs was probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

You probably didn't miss anything with the Village as almost no one likes it. I do for reasons most won't. However, Signs has a lot more fans -- and is probably M.Night's other "underrated" film along with Unbreakable (since most seem to think Sixth Sense is his best). There is so much going on in Signs -- not to mention a great performance from Joaquin Phoenix -- that it's always perplexing when folks slam it. (See also again: Unbreakable.)
