It's certainly not out of the question that he peeled with the Ahx rather than shoving 600 dollars into the pot on the flop

you don't ever see him having AhQx there? or even something weird like 88-TT with a heart? I think this is a pretty crappy fold, personally. You checked to induce a bluff (or should have), not to throw this away.
