BREAKING: Karl Rove resigns at the end of Aug.
from BBCNews and the Wall Street Journal - (breaking as of 4am when I'm the only one up _
Karl Rove has announced he will resign at the end of August to spend time with his family. -------------- As an aside here, Karl got his friend to the Presidency, but one cannot help but think it was his penchant for dirty politics and desire to maintain a permanent Republican Majority by any means that played such an important role in sinking the party in 2006 - and if straw poll turnout in Iowa is any indication, the Republican fatigue with it's candidates is pretty severe - My favorite story about the character of Rove came from Barack Obama's book about when a senator came to him saying "if you change this and this in the president's bill, I can guarantee you 80 votes and bi-partisan support in the Senate" And Rove said he didn't want 80 - he only wanted 51. Bipartisanship or consensus was never part of his vocab. - good riddance. rb |
