BREAKING: Karl Rove resigns at the end of Aug.

from BBCNews and the Wall Street Journal - (breaking as of 4am when I'm the only one up _

Karl Rove has announced he will resign at the end of August to spend time with his family.

--------------

As an aside here, Karl got his friend to the Presidency, but one cannot help but think it was his penchant for dirty politics and desire to maintain a permanent Republican Majority by any means that played such an important role in sinking the party in 2006 -

and if straw poll turnout in Iowa is any indication, the Republican fatigue with it's candidates is pretty severe -

My favorite story about the character of Rove came from Barack Obama's book about when a senator came to him saying "if you change this and this in the president's bill, I can guarantee you 80 votes and bi-partisan support in the Senate"

And Rove said he didn't want 80 - he only wanted 51.

Bipartisanship or consensus was never part of his vocab. - good riddance.

good riddance indeed

as one of the key decision makers in the white house he has to be held accountable for eight years of far too many bad decisions

nevermind what you mention about his dirty politics and winning is everything attitude about government service

It is too late, he has done his damage. And done it effectively I might add.
The country is as divided as it has been in many decades. The truth of his philosophy is slowly being revealed. One can not behave in his manner and avoid being revealed eventually. And he was very good at what he did. His use of language was masterful. It reduced complex situations to absurd bumper sticker mentality, it hid complex agendas.

It will take years to rebuild the respect this country lost under his architecture. Decades perhaps.
and within the country, 75% of the population now see the flaws in the architecture yet the congress and the senate continue to support it.
Perhaps we approach a war within. A class war. The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer. Perhaps the rich are just too greedy? You've got to give the poor something to keep them from getting to desperate. Health care for children would have been a nice bone to toss.....

I digressed, sorry. extra cup of coffee....

Ya, cause y'know, a little scuffle some people like to refer to as the "War in Iraq," plus just about everything else Bush screwed up, really doesn't mean a whole lot. Everyone was just sick of Karl Rove and his partisan politics, and that's why the Democrats won Congress.

Ya, cause every other politician, like the democratic party leaders, act soooo benevolently and bi-partisanly. A politician whose main interest is himself and his party!?! NO!!! YOU DON'T SAY!

Not that I like Karl Rove or anything, but this seems like a bizarre analysis. You almost do an injustice to the topic if this is the best you can do.

I don't know why but his reason for leaving strikes me as odd.
