Re: Filmie Question of the Week: Great Watery Movies
Just thought of another interesting water movie. Open Water, I caught it on cable about a year ago and it was way different from most movies and very creepy. I sort of liked it but it was creepy and depressing and probably not something I want to watch again but was very captivating for that initial viewing.

Re: Filmie Question of the Week: Great Watery Movies
How about the best journey upriver there is?
Apocalypse Now Willard: [voiceover] Saigon... [censored]; I'm still only in Saigon... Every time I think I'm gonna wake up back in the jungle. When I was home after my first tour, it was worse. I'd wake up and there'd be nothing. I hardly said a word to my wife, until I said "yes" to a divorce. When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle. I'm here a week now... waiting for a mission... getting softer; every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker, and every minute Charlie squats in the bush, he gets stronger. Each time I looked around, the walls moved in a little tighter. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Yecch to "filmie." Possibly the gayest word ever [/ QUOTE ] Yeah! This word has a lot more negative conotations than positive as far as I'm concerned. [/ QUOTE ] It seems to have entirely negative connotations, to me. [/ QUOTE ] hey, if you're gonna trash my custom title, do you have to do it on my birthday? sheesh |

Re: Filmie Question of the Week: Great Watery Movies
I really enjoyed The Abyss. Phenomenal special effects for its time, decent story and (as usual) a solid performance by Ed Harris. I am always a fan of DVDs with significant extra footage/different ending than the big screen version, and The Abyss delivered on that front too.
