You live in SF. if the girl doesnt realize that "picking her up" means you have to spend the next three hours finding a parking place in this GOD FORSAKEN HELL HOLE, or for some reason does realize this but feels that you should be put through this so she doesnt have to take an extra 15 minutes on the bus and can instead sit on her butt eating bon bons as your soul gradually dies each time around the block... forget the whole picking her up crap, dump her.

I know exactly what you mean. Be careful about doing nice things, lest they turn into obligations!

As to your question, it all depends on circumstances. My gf used to work swing shift, and I would drive 20+ minutes each way to pick her up, every night at 11pm. She would take the bus there, but she said the walk from work to the bus was sketchy at night and some guy was following her one time - so what else could I do?

Likewise with yer gf - if she's sick, in a bad area, carrying a lot of stuff, etc... you should help her out. If she expects you to fight through rush-hour traffic in the city just because she's too lazy to take a bus or the bart, then no [censored] way.

I firmly would be pissed if I had to pick her up more than a few times a week.

However, if you employ some method of cutting this down, and she has anything remotely resembling a traumatic incident while taking public transportation, you'll never hear the end of it.

Get proactive, break up with her before this tragedy occurs, or suck it up and keep picking her up, or buy her a car.

-Are you busy when she asks?
-How long does it take to pick her up?
-How long does it take for her to take the bus?
-What is the average time it will take you to find a parking space upon return?
-Does she traverse a dangerous neighborhood or feel unsafe or uncomfortable on the way home?
