Re: B & M Dealer Confessions Thread
One of the funniest mistakes ive made (which i realized but no one else did...)
60 game on the turn action is bet call call then for whatever reason... i say "Raise" action continues at 120 call call original bettor call as do the callers At this point i hear someone not in the hand whisper to the player next to them "Who raised?". Thats when i realized.... I made the raise. I didnt say a thing and the player who asked didnt press... Hell, these games are so loose aggresive it wouldnt have matter anyway. |

Re: B & M Dealer Confessions Thread
Haha, dealer makes the raise. Love it.
When I was newer, I almost deat a flop in stud a couple of times (ie, peeled 'em from the deck and almost turned it over), and I'm pretty sure I delivered some up cards in hold'em, too. Dangers of working graveyard and switching between games. I've also knocked down towers of chips in bigger limit games, but that's what the 1/10 seats get for stacking so big so close to my arms. |

Re: B & M Dealer Confessions Thread
HiLo Omaha 15-30 missed a tying 2-4 low on an 'A 3 4 7 8' board vs an A-2, and shorted a guy out of his 1/4 - about 5 hands later he starts sayin he thinks he had low and I realize my mistake, but he doesn't ask for a decision and since he never tipped anyways, neither did I
2nd story involves a sticky deck; dealt 'As 7x Kx' flop 4 handed 5-10 NL, 8-900 goes in on the flop between all four, guy in 5 seat reaches out as I'm about to deal the turn and pushes aside the 'As' and there is a fourth card on the flop now a 5x or 6x- that was fun |

Re: B & M Dealer Confessions Thread
I am not a dealer but saw the following yesterday at a local tourney...
Under the gun pushes, everyone folds except the player to all-ins right. She has is checking her hole cards, when the dealer starts to push the pot to all-in. He sees the pot coming his way and throws his hand into the muck. The dealer notices that she is still in the hand and instead pushes her the pot. Under the gun is pissed, but the dealer looks at him and says ,"you can't win without a hand". LOL |

Re: B & M Dealer Confessions Thread
Ubintook's is awesome. Recently I did this (lifted from another thread.)
----------- So we started doing a longer format tournament on Saturdays in the card room, much smoother blind structure than the donkaments throughout the week. This new tournament uses antes in later rounds, something I'm not used to seeing or dealing with from a dealing standpoint. First hand of the round with antes, I scoop all of them into the middle of the table and proceed to burn a card and deal a flop of Q 10 3, two diamonds. There's only one problem... no one has any cards. It's been so ingrained into my muscle memory to scoop up the bets, burn and go that I did that automatically after pulling in the antes. The UTG player doesn't miss a beat. "All in!" he declared smiling. UTG +1 looks at him and says "I can't call ya." This all happens in a matter of 1 second after the flop hits the table. Then of course, I give myself the good old kick in the nuts, everyone has a good laugh, and we went about our business. |

Re: B & M Dealer Confessions Thread
Pushed a side pot the wrong way without knowing how much was in it (pushed it right into the main pot). Although it wasn't much $ (about $60 total) the reaction from the player who should have been pushed the pot caused a major problem. He claimed to have $80 in the side, which he definitely did not (it was more like $30) but since I hadn't counted I wasn't sure. Well I was about 2 weeks new and everyone screws something up sometime. Learned a valuable lesson tho, haven't made that mistake (or anything close to it) since.

Re: B & M Dealer Confessions Thread
Once you are the floor and have to clean up the messes from dealer's mistakes, you won't make those mistakes yourself anymore. I've of course made many mistakes but since I was dual rate, then full time floor so early I cleaned up most of the major mistakes before I had a chance to make them myself.
Many of the small habits I've developed over time keep me from making mistakes. Example: always do a double take left and right when you tap the table before the next street. This virtually always prevents early burn and turn. Incidentally, and I know we've discussed this before, the very hardest floor decisions almost always have these three things in common: 1. No limit 2. Alcohol 3. Dealer error. It is entirely possible that these three things may produce a floor call that's a real kick in the nuts. Al |
