Default Beat - furnace quit working, $282 bill

My furnace went out over night, and it was 50 degrees in my house in the morning. Got a guy to come out and take a look. $282 later, he tells me the fan was tripped because I didn't change my filter (how did I not do that?), and there was a couple handfuls of dirt in the coils.

I guess I can brag that at least my house didn't catch fire and burn down because of this.

Yea, I guess I should be happy that I don't have to buy a new one. I just hate these random, unforseen expenses that pop up.

If I win this live tourney tonight, I should be alright.

Backup plan is winning the powerball jackpot on Saturday.

Wish me luck!

The fan was tripped? I worked in the industry 10yrs ago....
When he say the was dirt in your coil, I suspect A-coil above the furnace, but that really wont affect your heating, but it could affect cooling in the summer. Did he take the plenum apart (box above furnace) to get to A coil?
It's actually a pain in the ass to clean this....

Gota be careful with HVAC. They know people don't know chit about their own equipment and they tend to stick it too you... Not saying they robbed you, but you have details from the bill what they did? Seems quite high...

Did they replace any parts?
