I'm not advocating it for EVERY time... just occasionally. Maybe 1 out 5 times against this type of opponent?

McGee if I check the turn through, I am calling every river non club under 9, and raising the eight of clubs of course, so about 50/50.

So many are recommending bet the turn. Are we bet/folding the turn?

I am glad I'm in this discussion because this is a type of problem hand for me.

Yes. Which is why I asked if you were calling the river. If you are, then bet/folding the turn is superior to checking it through.

Because if we are ahead, and villian calls down, we gain an extra bet?

Just trying to work this through my thick head.

If our opponent is on a club draw (or straight draw, or two overcards to our eights), he'll call a bet on the turn that we won't usually get out of him on the river (unless he hits, of course).
