Re: flopped set, unraised pot . . . standard yes?
You have 22.73% pot equity against a made straight and he is giving you pot odds requiring you to have 28.65% pot equity to make a break even call, assuming no implied odds. I'm sure you can squeak some out of him on the river

Re: flopped set, unraised pot . . . standard yes?
There is no way you should either reevaluate on the river or fold. Get the money in now as he may have a double draw or a pair and a draw. If he has a straight, oh well, hopefully you'll fill up. You can't play poker effectively if you are afraid to lose a decent stack. This is weak-tight behavior at its worst.

Dont go broke in an unraised pot [/ QUOTE ] I really don't have a problem with this quote however there is nothing wrong with winning lost and lots of money in an unraised pot either. Translation: he may have the straight but he is giving you odds to fill upp thus call and win $$$ |

Re: flopped set, unraised pot . . . standard yes?
I saw some push responses, I think call >push>fold.
Surely a push is only going to be called by a better hand from most players. With a call he's probally going to fire any river which you call or raise depending on what it is, and if he checks, you fire. Maybe not pushing the turn will allow him to outdraw you where he might of folded otherwise, but I think the expectation from calling is greater than pushing. |

Call end re-ev river. [/ QUOTE ] villain only has 200 behind. i think this is an easy push. but i dont know how much behind we need to be for it to be a call/re-eval. i think i pushanything less than a psb, im never folding river to a brick, so why not push. |

Re: flopped set, unraised pot . . . standard yes?
I'm not folding a set there. If he has the nuts, does he want you to fold? 78h, A8h and A4h would be nice plays to get tricky there.
If he has the nuts and the river bricks, he'll make a bet he wants you to call. If he pushes he doesn't have the nuts. If he has 77 or QQ then I'm an ATM. Then again, I just caught your gut read and I have to admit I find mine is almost always right. So maybe you're right. |

Re: flopped set, unraised pot
[ QUOTE ]
My gut said fold. [/ QUOTE ] I do believe in trusting your gut. But first you want to ask it a question: "Gut, do you want me to fold because you think he has a better set (i.e. QQ or 77), or do you want me to fold because you think he has a straight?" Fold against the set, but you have odds to call the straight and hope to fill up. |
