Just pay the debt. I'm sure if you contacted them they would cut some kinda deal or plan.

Sorry, but this is bad, or at least incomplete, information. There are many reported (i.e. published) cases where courts have enforced gambling debts, including poker debts.

It depends on the laws of the pertinent jurisdiction. My understanding of the new federal law is that it only applies to gambling that's already illegal under state law. In other words, you can't use the internet to make wagers that would otherwise be illegal.

Dude,

Your sister is Lady Sov(ereign) and she won't loan you the money?

Wow, when the Russian mafia starts pimping her out it will be the biggest musical sexcapade since George Michael.

First of all gambling and playing poker online are 2 different things, and I dont think they can do anything for playing poker, thats why noone has ever been prosecuted for it.
Second of all if you contact collection agency within 30 days of recital of the letter and let them know that the debt is for gambling (better to due via certified mail, so you have proof), they legally can't send it to your credit report thus they cant affect your credit in anyway, they can still send you to chex systems so you can't open checking account, however there are many smaller banks which will still open an account for you despite being in chex systems, even bigger ones will do it as it depends on branch manager, they can override the system. So don't worry oopsydaisy pokersites cant do nothing for screwing them over, just like we can't when they steal our money

So I get this today... Is this just BODOG blowing smoke or is limitninja correct to say that my gambling debt can't and wont be reported to credit. Doesn't matter either way, my credit sucks.

Dear Mr. XXXXXXXXXX
Account: XXXXXX

This e-mail serves as the first notice to confirm that your bodog account currently has an outstanding balance, and has now been referred to the Internal Collections Department for the purpose of credit reporting to both Equifax and TransUnion.

You must contact us immediately to avoid your account being referred on to a third party collections agency.

Call us toll free: 1-866-887-8422.

Sincerely,

Accounts Department
