She only wants to talk 20-30 minutes a day? Brother you got it good. Quit complaining.

I live in the same city as my gf, and we see each other 2-3 times a week. This is overly sufficient for me to discuss with her what is going on in our lives and between us

Probably shouldn't be your gf then.

Ya seriously. How long have you been dating that you onlt see each other 2-3 times a week?

I don't know a single person that doesn;t at least live with their girlfriend

My God, when did I get so old?

You haven't run out of anecdotes yet, you are still having information transfer conversations. It will happen, and she will still want to talk after you've told her everything interesting that's ever happened in your life.

Roughly 10mins into each conversation, walk into your bathroom, say "I've gotta go, good chat." and flush the toilet. Be sure to flush at the end of every phone call, and make sure she can hear it. Problem solved in a week at most.

meh. I've known my (now ex) for 10 years, have been best friends for 7 or 8 of them, and dating for 2.5 of them. We broke up a few weeks ago and still talk multiple times per day. we'll never run out of things to talk about because we genuinely care about each other and how the other's day is going.

OP, if you don't care about her day at all, why are you guys together? (just curious)

Josh

Five years ago, dude. You never see it sneaking up on you.

OP, my professional relationship and medical advice is heavy doses of marijuana before and during your conversations.

The people phrasing this as "I love my GF. I could listen to her forever. Clearly you other schmos don't know what love is" seem more than a bit condescending. I love my girlfriend too, but what I do not love is talking on the phone. When I was younger I had MUCH more tolerance for it; now, I just really do not enjoy lengthy phone conversations. Face to face, my threshold for chit-chat is much higher.

Rush,

If you can't tell her that you don't want to talk that often, you should probably break up with her.

If you are referring to me, note that I never once mentioned the phone. I was just writing to say that FlyWF was way wrong for thinking that sooner or later two people who genuinely care about each other will eventually run out of things to talk about.

However, I think your comment sorta begs the question...if you do genuinely care about her, and she really wants to talk to you (but you guys can't see her), and you do genuinely want to know how her day went, why wouldn't you make a 5 minute phone call? This is curiousity, not condescending.

Josh
