Re: Actors/Actresses Who Hit the Next Level, But Shouldn\'t Have
Keanu Reeves
Kevin Costner (Coffee makes a good point about him being a decent actor when he is silent, the problem is he does talk.) Nicholas Cage |

Re: Actors/Actresses Who Hit the Next Level, But Shouldn\'t Have
Someone put Keanu and Ben Affleck in one scene, even the thought cracks me up.
I agree with someone who said that some of the listed aren't really that bad just very one dimensional, i.m.o. that goes for Denzel too, not bad but always the same routine. |

Robert Redford (good-looking, bland and not that interesting of an actor) [/ QUOTE ] I agree completely with this, except for the opening scene of Butch Cassidy. He was great in that (but it did involve as little movement as possible). |

Re: Actors/Actresses Who Hit the Next Level, But Shouldn\'t Have
Good call on Redford. I like his early work, but he really doesn't have much range. I find it telling that for such a supposedly "good" actor, he has exactly one Oscar nomination, for "The Sting". He's someone who has gotten by exclusively on his looks and connections for a very long time.
Bette Davis is odd, but a great actress. I loved her in "All About Eve". |

Re: Actors/Actresses Who Hit the Next Level, But Shouldn\'t Have
Redford was a movie star: a competent actor with great looks. Think Clark Gable.
I didn't understand Bette Davis much either until I saw Now Voyager and All About Eve. BTW, Celeste Holm tells this story: First day of rehearsal for All About Eve, Holm walks onto the set and says, "Good morning, everyone!" Davis replies, "F*ck, good manners . . ." Friend of mine in the business tells me JLo earns her movie roles the old fashioned way, if you catch my drift. |

Re: Actors/Actresses Who Hit the Next Level, But Shouldn\'t Have
I'm going out on a limb and say Adrian Grenier. Actually, not really since I had to look up his name on IMDB to make sure I got his last name right. He should be still waiting tables in Hollywood instead of being the star that he is today (in terms of recognizable scale [is there a word for this?])
I am also going to say Katie Holmes but then she didn't luckbox the way others did. She luckboxed into finding one of the biggest actor in Hollywood. |

How Josh Hartnett gets any acting roles amazes me.

Re: Actors/Actresses Who Hit the Next Level, But Shouldn\'t Have
I most have misunderstood this thread, I can agree with a lot of names mentioned but the one that beats them all, I did not see him mentioned in this thread.
At the moment he is the governor of California. Cheers! |
