Re: Frustrating... should I go back?
[ QUOTE ]
Why are your PF raises down? ARe you tightening up for some reason? This might be affecting the rest of a hand that you might win if you raise instead of call. [/ QUOTE ] Don't really know, it didn't feel like I was playing different but I might have been cause in the beginning my bankroll wasn't sufficient I think to support that level and I was afraid of going down too much. Fixed that though so my PFR should be levelling out over time... |

Also go through your individual hands and see if there are some that you used to raise pf and are now just calling with. [ QUOTE ] but I might have been cause in the beginning my bankroll wasn't sufficient I think to support that level [/ QUOTE ] That's what i was suspecting. Make sure you don't make this mistake each time you move up a level. |

Re: Frustrating... should I go back?
Sims that I ran said that one should expect a 100BB downswing once every 12,000 hands. Expect. It's normal. Maybe you're just running bad.
But looking at your game is a good idea, and others have made good points. I'm just here to provide some numbers for "small sample size." |

Re: Frustrating... should I go back?
It looks like you might be calling down a tad more that I would. Reevaluate you play on the big streets, make sure you're getting the proper odds to chase and perhaps devalue some of your outs.

Re: Frustrating... should I go back?
[ QUOTE ]
Ever since I moved a level up (to 0.10/0.20), I've been on a downwards trend... Here are some of my stats... First graph is .10/.20, second one is .05/.10 [/ QUOTE ] Another difference that I notice between the limits is the RAKE. There is no rake shown at .05/.01, but there is rake at .10/.20. The amount of rake is over half of what you’re down so far. The fact that you’re still down after rake could be a combination of all of the reasons that have been mentioned. Bottom line is the combination of you maybe not playing well and variance isn’t the whole story. |

Re: Frustrating... should I go back?
Players at .10/.20 should be every bit as bad as .05/.10
The most logical explinations 1. You are on a bad luck swing, it happens 2. You are somehow playing worse at the new limit, perhaps the new stakes are bothering you. What happend to your PFR % at .10/.20? It's a full 3.3% lower (signs of both 1 & 2 perhaps) |

Re: Frustrating... should I go back?
[ QUOTE ]
You might be right on that one... when I moved up was around the same time I started multi-tabling (only 2-4 tables)... and I felt like I was chasing more draws down to the river... stuff I wouldn't do as much before. But could something like that make such (+270BB vs -140BB) a differency? [/ QUOTE ] As others have noted rake accounts for half of your losses while you were playing an unraked limit before. The change in pre-flop raise percentage has also been noted, as has the large change in win percentage at showdown. On the .10/.20 graph I am noticing very steep slopes on the upswings and downswings, indicating high variance. I might surmise one of two causes for that. Tilt can definitely result in very steep lines, but there is also the comment you made about multi-tabling and chasing a lot of draws. If you are chasing a large number of draws to the river and not hitting many your graph will look like lots of large losses interrupted by the occasional big wins when a low percentage draw does hit. This also matches the graph behavior. My guess is that you felt ready to move levels because you ran white-hot at the end of your lower level graph. Then you moved up, multi-tabled, got a bit passive in your play calling and chasing rather than attacking, hit the rake and quite possibly ran a bit bad. That's a perfect storm that can easily explain your losses especially if there was some tilt in there. Don't get down on yourself. Just drop back to your old level for a short time until you regain your confidence and when you move up stick to only one or two tables until you get your feet under you. If you only play one or two tables you can also spend some time looking for soft tables to get your BR and your confidence up. I hope things turn around for you. Good luck. |
