outback sucks because if you order a soda, it comes in a tiny glass with way too much ice in it.

Wow, I never knew people hated Outback so much. Sure, it's a chain, but I think they burn a pretty good steak. Not as good as Morton's or whatever, but pretty good.

Buncha snobs on here.

What's the cost of a "good" steak at Outback? If it's like $20 bucks, I'd rather go spend $30 at a much better steakhouse.

To compare Outback steak to Chili's or Applebees is blasphamous.....

Their mashed potatoes are mashed right before you get them. ....

There fries are cut from potatos within an hour from hen you get them also, so they are fresh.....

Where do you come up with this crap?

Umm, all those things are true, however that doesn't make Outback like the greatest place in the world, it's just far and away better than your standard casual dining. For some reason though I also don't like the fries, unless of course they are smothered with like 2lbs of cheese, a side of bacon and a quart of ranch, in which case, they are delicious.

My current planned menu for today:
http://www.outback.com/ourmenu/menu.asp

Seared Ahi Tuna
Sashimi style Yellow Fin tuna, spice rubbed and seared. Served with sides of soy dressing and wasabi vinaigrette

Clam Chowder (not on that link, but they have it)

Hickory Burger
Topped with hickory sauce, lettuce, tomato, smoked cheddar, bacon, sweet sautéed onions and mayo
--

I will have the burger without mayo, obviously. I think my Outback allows a choice of side with burger. If that is so, I'm going to run the Sautéed Mushrooms instead of fries.

I will probably also split a layered cheese fries with my friend. Oh, and bread. Lots and lots of bread.

I think i would go with:

Coral Reef Crab Dip
Sweet Pacific Rim crabmeat with a combination of Smoked Gouda and Parmesan cheeses, corn and red peppers. Baked until bubbly and golden. Served with honey-wheat toasts

Bushman ‘Shrooms
Lightly battered and fried mushrooms, served with spicy ranch dressing

and

Ribeye
14 oz. ribeye

stabn -

I have tried the Crab Dip before and was not impressed. The description sounds wonderful, but the actual product is par at best.

I'd be more tempted by the mushrooms if they were not breaded. Perhaps I might be off base here, I have not have them and they seem to have received some excellent reviews.

Per my earlier butter question, it looks like they use a whipped honey butter. I am investigating recipes right now.
