Re: Bostonians.....what to do in Boston?
the best clam chowder i've ever had was at mike's in fairhaven (or is it in mattapoisett?), but that's not a feasible ride from woburn just for the chowder.

Re: Bostonians.....what to do in Boston?
it's kind of passe to say this, but Legals has gone wayyy downhill. it's basically a place tourists go now. the food is just ok now.

yeah i don't know about that one. i mean they have them up and down the east coast now. do you think the entire chain's business is just from tourists? i wonder how many tourists go to the one at the burlington mall. the food is good.

Re: Bostonians.....what to do in Boston?
well I meant in Boston. like for work dinners we take out-of-towners there b/c it's famous, but I think they are no concentrating much more on expansion and making monies than serving awesome food.
the ones in the suburbs (like Burlington) will always be popular and decent choices b/c of the comparative lack of choice and quality in the burbs. but in Boston, I would never spend my own money at Legals. |

Re: Bostonians.....what to do in Boston?
I am assuming Boston has a subway system? Might sound dumb but, I should obviously use this instead of a rental, right?
If so which stops will take me to most of these restaurants that are recommended. I also assume there is a day pass for the subway? Sorry for the newb q's but its my first time and I dont want to wonder around lost as hell. Also if some of you want to get together and go to dinner one night let me know. |

[/ QUOTE ] yes, we call it "the T" getting from Woburn -> Boston you may want a car but you could take the commuter rail. just don't drive in the city, you'll be sorry you did. it's a complete disaster if you don't know what you're doing, and still pretty messy even if you think you do. |

Re: Bostonians.....what to do in Boston?
the "T" is the subway. most major attractions are either on or easily walkable from the Red Line or the Green Line (note there are a few different lines on the Green Line, but the B,C, and D lines are all identical from North Station to Kenmore, so don't worry about which one you get on).
go to mbta.com for all fare information, they also run the commuter trains in from Woburn. Boston is a small walkable city, so don't worry if you miss your stop. just get out and walk around. from one end of downtown Boston to the other is basically a 45 minute walk. (not including Cambridge or the residential parts of the city you have no reason to go to) |
