Re: **** OFFICIAL**** My team got screwed by the committee thread
[ QUOTE ]
I just want to mention here that poor screwed Drexel is now one and done in the NIT. [/ QUOTE ] It's hardly surprising. Teams that feel that they got screwed in bowl games are notoriously bad in football and I would guess it's similar in the NIT. Also, the gap between a team that is on either side of the bubble and teams that finished on the bubble of the bubble isn't much. Given that it's a one game deal, they couldn't have been much of a big favorite. The committee used results from the season, not the NIT. That they lost in the first round when they were surely lacking in motivation and playing a team that is really hot and made it to the final of the ACC tournament gives absolutely no indication as to whether the committee erred in this case. When a 10 seed beats a 7 seed, do you take that to mean that the 10 was seeded too low and/or the 7 too high? Jared |

[/ QUOTE ] I just want to mention that the NIT is such a huge letdown for teams that expect to be in the NCAAs that a subpar performance in it does not really tell us if a team should have been in. They also lost to an NC ST. team that had they been healthy all year, probably would have been a tourney team. |

Re: **** OFFICIAL**** My team got screwed by the committee thread
As I mentioned in another thread.
They got the big let-down on Sunday night. Thought process for Drexel: On Monday they're still pissed and kind of in shock. There are seniors whose dreams of playing in the NCAA in their last season are now totally dashed. It's emotionally gut-wrenching for these guys. Oh yeah...they still have a game coming up. Oh well, better than nothing....ARRRRRGH, we should still be at the damn NCAA's. F'ing committee!! Dammit. Well, what's done is done. Better get ready for NCSt. One half-hearted practice where they're trying to focus on what's ahead instead of dwelling on the kick the stomach they just got. And then they're playing a game against a team who didn't expect to receive an at-large and was playing with all kinds of confidence and an attitude of, "NOW we're showing the country what we've got." Do NOT read too much into that Drexel loss. It was such a quick turn-around from that punch to the gut from the committee that they can easily be forgiven for not being a focused as they would normally be. |

Re: **** OFFICIAL**** My team got screwed by the committee thread
I am a grad and big fan of Missouri St. I really wanted them to get in. I think teams like Stanford and Arkansas and Texas Tech have no business being in the tourney. That being said, we went 0-5 against S. Ill and Creighton. We lost at home to Wintrhop. We have no one to blame but ourselves. Bob Huggins had a good comment on his team not getting in. They asked him what it meant that a team that finished 4th in the Big 12 and had 20 wins didn't make the tourney. He said, "I guess it means we need to win more games."

Huggins is awesome for quotes.
I remember listening to a UC post-game show and the new play-by-play guy menioned that they limited their opponents to only 9 offensive rebounds or something and Huggins said, "We shouldn't let the L.A. Lakers get 9 offensive rebounds against us." |
