1)The Outback is the Outback, you will get what you pay for: An ok meal for an ok price. I do not think their steaks are bad. I do not think that their steaks are great. I think their steaks are exactly what you would expect when you pay $15 for a 14 oz. strip.

2)Am I the only person who thinks that OP vetoing Red Lobster is kind of a shadeball move? You wont go there because your date and her daughter take too long to eat? Nice. Why even make the offer if you don't mean it?

How about next time instead of making a patronizing offer to go anywhere that she and her daughter would like, you provide her with a list of restaurants that are on par with your standards and let her choose from those? That way you eliminate the opportunity for her to embarass herself by suggesting a mediocre, reasonably priced institution in lieu of a five star, $100/plate restaurant.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with all of this

To compare Outback steak to Chili's or Applebees is blasphamous. Of course you can get better steak at fine dining but outback is pretty decent food. All there [censored] is really fresh. Their mashed potatoes are mashed right before you get them. Hell they still have skin in them, yet you say they taste like powder? There fries are cut from potatos within an hour from hen you get them also, so they are fresh, while I agree I dont like them too much though.

I think Chili's, TGIF, Outback is all relatively the same. I would just order chicken wings or chicken fingers.

ordering a steak is probably hit or miss, missing more then hitting.

Epilogue: I feel like I have a massive food hangover today. I generally eat pretty simple stuff - like something I grill or homemade tuna-salad in a pita. So my body really isn't used to all that grease and rich food. I feel like someone beat me up in my sleep and I have a weird sinus headache. I'm gonna go climb a mountain and see if I can flush it out of my system.

Ok, I told my friend I'd take her and her daughter anywhere she wants to go. So of course she tried the Red Lobster thing.

[/ QUOTE ]

Of course? Like Red Lobster is some elite place anyone in their right mind would choose? Ha!

[ QUOTE ]

So anyway, choice two was Outback. I'm trying to talk them into Buca di Bepo, another cherry-buster, but I have a feeling I'm not going to get two vetos

[/ QUOTE ]

You offer to take them "anywhere she wants to go" and you veto the first TWO choices? Loser.

I am stuck in the UK with nary a steakhouse in site, and I am homesick just reading this thread.
British beef tastes weird anyway.
LOVE Outback, and I often dream of their med rare ribeye.
Love the bloomin onion, but as with any fried onion ya gotta eat it hot...does become nauseating when cool.
