Re: What does BBV do for a living?
1) I play poker, and I've been doing it for a living for about 15 months
2) I like it OK; I don't want to do it forever, but by the same token, I don't want to have a real job, either 3) It's fun sometimes, it's frustrating sometimes, but the money is too good to change careers 4) Eventually I hope to have enough to invest that will make me money, so I don't HAVE to play if I don't want to. And then I'll be free to tour the countryside / sing songs / live the life of a Renaissance man / etc. etc. |

Re: What does BBV do for a living?
1. Senior accounting/marketing student
2. 4-5 years of classes 3. Plan on getting job in the very near future, if anyone's hiring accountants, let me know. I may decide to go back to graduate school or prepare for CPA exams. 4. If I can't find a job in the accounting industry... uhh... I guess I'm screwed, I played over my summer break this past year, and I took a big downswing near the end to consider it not profitable enough for full time poker playing. |

Re: What does BBV do for a living?
1. Fixed Income Trader on the Street
2. It's somewhat analogous to being staked quite handsomely to play NL poker with someone else's millions, and there's no chance of getting rivered by a 2-outer. What's not to like? Okay, it's not exactly like that, but it's what I was born to do. 3. Still unsure, but, I'd stay here for a quarter of the pay. 4. Associate with a private equity firm. That's a job I dream about getting. |

1 - What you do and how long have you done it. 2 - If you like it 3 - If you plan to continue doing it 4 - If not, then what? [/ QUOTE ] 1. Currently a Ph.D. student in Cell Biology. I've been a student for more than 20 years now! Yay me!!!! 2. I'm so tired of it I really think I'll probably kill someone soon. 3. I defend in December. So only until then. 4. Mid-December on? Nightly drinkaments. Until probably May, while I do pretty much nothing except look for my next job and get paid to do it. After that? Tech consulting, possibly peddling of influence while working for a lobby/PAC. Corruption rules! |

Re: What does BBV do for a living?
1 - What you do and how long have you done it.
Own 50% and manage a Hardwood Flooring Wholesaler. Been doing this 6 years. 2 - If you like it Most days I like it. Love the $$$ 3 - If you plan to continue doing it As long as I can bank like I am now 4 - If not, then what? Whatever opportunity looks attractive, right now have a couple small companies in incubation with friends, if the bottom falls out of the hardwood market, will probably move to one of those full time, but right now the economy is smoking hot here and hardwood is good. Re: What does BBV do for a living?
1 - What you do and how long have you done it.
Internet poker, 2.5 yrs - 1 yr seriously 2 - If you like it Yes and no, mostly yes. Variance blows, the game isn't super fun anymore. However I don't hate it (yet). Find me another job where I can 100% set my own hours, make >$100/hr and I'd definitely consider it 3 - If you plan to continue doing it As long as the gov't lets me probably. If things go really well (ie: poker economy remains good, I move up to high stakes and do well) then I'll play until I have enough money to start a business, then I'll make a run at that. Otherwise I'll ride the poker thing out and then probably find some other scam... 4 - If not, then what? I'd love to start my own business. Owning a local computer shop sounds like a fun job to me, but I'm not sure how much income a single store could create. I can't see myself working for someone else (I never have). I have a degree in computer science that I haven't put to use. If I ever went back to school (would be a serious consideration if online poker died out), it would probably be for an MBA. I'm good at coding, but I decided a while after I graduated that I didn't really wanna sit in a cubicle 8 hrs a day and code for the next 20 years. |
