Re: Let\'s not succumb to moral relativism
Very nice post, even if more than a bit disturbing.
[ QUOTE ] It has ALWAYS been about who is strong and who is weak. It has never been about anything more. We like to think of "good guys" and "bad guys" only because it makes us feel better. For example, we like to think of WW2 as taking on the butchers of Germany and we fail to remember that our partner against Germany was the biggest butcher of all. [/ QUOTE ] This point struck home recently, while watching a History Channel special on Hitler, titled I think "The rise and fall of evil" when my young nephew correctly, I think, pointed out that if Hitler had landed in England, we may have been sitting watching the "The rise and fall of genius". Edit: Before I get dumped on and/or banned from this site, I wish to point out that I do not support anything Hitler did. This is simply a note about the winners writing history. |

Iran
Iran denied Sunday it was helping Hizbullah in its fight against Israel in Lebanon.
"We haven't deployed any forces there (Lebanon)," said Hamid Reza Asefi, spokesman of Iran's foreign ministry. "We don't send weapons to the resistance. We don't support them militarily. "If we choose to give them future military support, we will announce it. We have no fear of Mr. Bush and company." |

Re: Lebanon
Pretty disingenuous for him to think that a politician can sit and watch his country and people being pounded (for whatever reason) by another nation state without rising to its defense. Tough to look voters in the eye afterwards and say, we are working for you.
Now, if Olmert had called him, after the kidnapping but before the war and said, let us join together to beat the Hiz -- well perhaps the Israeli position would be more moral when innocents are, completely predictably, killed. |

[/ QUOTE ] AC, but he's not rising to the defense of his nation, he's rising to the defense of the terrorists that instigated the situation that he currently finds himself in. Either he is disgusted that Hizbollah dragged his country into a war it doesn't want, or he supports the war, with all its consequences... |
