If you live in the USA, your food comes from 1500 miles away as well. Do you see farmers and truckers making mad money?

Thats a pretty bad example, because people could grow food closer if it were economically feasable to do so.

Basically if food prices got out of hand, I could start my own farm closer to home. I wouldn't be able to grow things like bananas or coffee, but those are really just luxury items and I could get by without them. I would be much less successful trying to put up my own personal oil well.
