Default Re: Big 1/2 NL Pots

My first day at 1/2nl 6-max on Full Tilt really ran my way.

First hand was QQ and it started it all.

I was in MP with 78 clubs. So i call. SB calls and BB raises to 10 $, I call SB folds.

Flop:A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
BB bets out $16 or so, and I call.
Turn:10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
BB bets $30 or so, I push insta for like 350 more to him. He calls With AQ.

Villain 1: $600
Villain 2: $350
Friend: covers

Friend limps with KT and villain 2 limps, villain1 raises to 12. Friend and villain2 call.

Flop comes A-Q-2 rainbow
Check to raiser who bets 20, friend and villain2 call.
Turn A-Q-2-J
Friend leads 100, villain2 calls, villain1 raises to 200, friend pushes, villain1 folds (says he had A2), villain1 tanks and calls with QQ.
River A-Q-2-J-Q
Villain1 makes quads and wins $1330 pot.
Friend throws chair and breaks cell phone.

two years ago, won 3k pot at ceasars in AC with top 2 vs flush draw of this mob type doode. he had ~50k in his jacket pockets so he was ok with this. i saw a 5k pot there about a week later at 1/2 top set vs oesfd all in on flop, doode cashed out like 6k. i saw a 6k stack at borgata 1/2 earlier this summer as i was walking through that part of the room, someone told me he won a 4k pot. AC has great games.

I raise to 12 with 6s5s on the button, he raises to $40 from the blind, I call.

flop is 742, two spades
he bets $75, I raise to $300, he calls.

turn is offsuit 8
he checks, I bet $500, he calls

river is an offsuit K
he tanks for about two minutes and pushes, KKK no good.

iirc it was max 300 or 500, or 3/4 of the big stack. so if someone had 2000 you could top off to 1500.

I've seen >$2000 pots in $200 cap NL1/2 games. While most players seem to try pretty hard to avoid confrontations with another giant chip stack at the table, sometimes it's just unavoidable. So about 3am as tables are combining it's not too hard for a table to have three >$1000 stacks, and eventually they'll clash. I see more of these at MGM I think than most places, but MGM seems to have more "NL1/2 pro's" (their words, not mine) than most rooms.

At uncapped Wynn and Binion's, very large pots are pretty common.
