This thread is retarded. I would tip Bill Gates if he brought me my food. He did me a service, I owe it to him. I hate, hate, hate cheap ass tipping nits.

Allow me to chime in on this. I bartend at a busy restaurant that does a lot of carryout business. A big (and majorly time-consuming) part of my job is putting together to-go orders for people. 10% is basically SOP for this service. If I have to put together a 50$ order, it's nice to see 4 or 5 bucks go in the tip jar.

However, I understand that this is an as yet ill-defined area of tip protocol, so my basic attitude is that I appreciate any tip on to go orders. Even ridiculous stuff like one buck on a $70 order keeps me from silently cursing you and remembering to take an extra-long time next time you come in.

Short answer: 10% is industry standard.
