Hey guys,

Well here's the situation, we order quite often from this small Indian cuisine restaurant. It's a small place, appears to be family owned and the food is always AWESOME.

Now last time our apt. parking was full so the "delivery" guy called up to see if we could go pick up our food downstair since he couldn't find a legal parking spot to come up. We did that and what da ya know! It's the restaurant owner/delivery guy and he's driving a brand new BMW...

We're students...how much do you tip?

I don't understand the role his car plays in determining how much to tip. Can you explain?

I tip 20% rounded down in the restaurant, 10% rounded up on takeout or delivery. Car makes no difference.

I take the sliding scale approach. If I get the food within 30 minutes I tip 25%, if I get it within 45 minutes I tip 20%, if I get it within an hour I tip 15%, If I get it over an hour and a half later they literally get the bill rounded up to the nearest dollar.

Obviously I adjust based on size of order and type of food (ie. I expect pizza/fast food a lot faster then when I order meals from a 'real' restaurant).

I'm with everybody else and say the car doesn't matter.

I never know how much to tip at Sonic. Usually it's whatever change I'm getting back, with a minimum of 25 cents. But the 17 year old chicks seem none too impressed.

What is balla to tip at Sonic? I want to be balla when I'm at Sonic.
