Howard, please forgive my hijack, but this midwesterner has a dumb question.

AFAIK, the tribals in AZ have been open several years, and they are surely making good money. Why are they still in tents????

The podunk little tribals in NE Oklahoma down the road from me have managed structures of some sort. Granted, one is a Quanset hut, and they are in tornado country, but still.....

Hearing about CAZ's tents has always baffled me.

Again, apologies for hijack, but really curious.

[/ QUOTE ]

Its not a real tent.... its a cost effective temporary structure similar in concept to a geodesic dome. The tribe built another casino ages ago that doesn't have poker (very lovely I might add), and also they are now building a resort casino to replace the "tents"

There is an old saying, something like, "It is an ill wind that blows no good." I have had crappy cell reception in my house, especially the basement ever since we moved here. I had no idea it might be curable for $30.

Whoo Hoo, I'm getting me one of those!

Honestly, do we really know that Alltel works? Who has Alltel? My theory is that they do have a cell phone blocker and don't care to discuss the decision with people.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can buy a cell phone blocker about the size of a cell phone I would expect it works for about 100 feet or so and I think I would buy one if I go back to live casino play just so no one can use their cell phone around me.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm kinda liking this idea....
as soon as that annoying kid on my right answers his phone, turn on the blocker and start playing poker instead of waiting for the ass hat to say "check" "oh, was it my turn" "hold on, i'm in the middle of a hand..... check.... ok, now what were you saying again"

I don't mind phone service being available, but Im getting to the point where I won't play in a room that lets you talk at the table on your phone. If it's that important, get up and have a conversation and come back when you are done.

[/ QUOTE ]

I got one of these as a gift for a (mean, obviously) gf a few agos. You can get them online for a few hundred bucks. Let me tell you, we had more fun with that thing than you would believe possible.

Stuck on a bus with 3 morons blabbing about nothing on their phones? You flip this baby on, and watch as all 3 simultaneously say 'hello' about 12 times, try to redial, look confused...oh good times.

I really, really recommend these.

And yeah, they are illegal, but for some reason the FCC hasn't decided to send out millions of detection squads to hunt down blocking signals and arrest the users...

I would say that my wife is on call several nites a week. I can go play cards, but It has to be close (where I can get home in 10-15 minutes it takes her to get ready, and I have to be avaiable via phone. There are 3 rooms which qualify for the time to travel, but one of them, I don't get a cell phone signal. Not only that, but they really don't have a decent paging system.

I too, said something to the floor once, and he basically did the same thing (this was a man, btw). I told him "you need to get it fixed. I can't play here". Four months later I walked in, checked signal, saw that it was still non-existent and walked out.

WTF? Oh,, no, that's not it. We have kids. Someone has to be home with the kids. No way I'd get up in the middle of the nite to drive my wife all over the state anyway.

I soooo wish I hadn't read this. Do they have enough range to kill the signal of the moronic driver in front of you on the highway?

Used for that purpose, you would never find a jury to convict you!
