Dave Attell's "Skanks for the Memories..." album is great.

Chappelle's Killing Them Softly is probably my favorite.

It's pretty well known that Robin Williams was on alot of coke back then.

I'm surprised it took so long to get to Chris Rock, too bad he doesn't do as much pure standup anymore.

I'm a Howard Stern fan so I'll mention Artie Lange, although he didn't seem completely polished when I saw him live, he is great as an all around tv/radio personality.

For active comics, Gaffigan and Attel

I don't know if you would consider him a stand up comic but I really enjoy listening to Henry Rollins.
George Carlin is out of control funny.
Norm MacDonald
Dane Cook

As far as guys on the current stand-up circuit, the two I've seen on multiple occasions are Joe Rogan and Frank Caliendo. Rogan was just brilliant. Caliendo is the guy from MadTV who does the Madden, Bush, and other impressions. He's a genius in that realm but I wouldn't want to just listen to him - you'd be missing too much of the physical comedy.

Way out in front:
Mitch Hedberg

Distant seconds:
Mike Birbiglia
Nick DiPaolo
Greg Rogell

If you like Hedberg, there's a new guy named Demetri Martin who's vaguely similar in cadence, subject matter, and delivery.

Daniel Tosh
Dov Davidoff
Zach Galifianakis
