Yes, because we all know that the real market for Cristal is watching Jay-Z's entire video library before selecting a champagne.

Cristal was mentioned on the Sopranos, a show about mobsters and gang violence - Anthony Jr. drinks some at a club and then takes some illegal drug - are they being upset at being associated with that as well?

It's actually more racist when you think "low class" automatically has to be associated with "black people."

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a fact, lol.

Tommy Hilfiger v. 2006?

[/ QUOTE ]

Do some research before you post:

about.com- tommy hilfiger a racist?

"Netlore Archive: False rumors alleging that fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger made racist statements on Oprah Winfrey's show are circulating (again) by email"

This myth that proof exists of Hilfiger being a racist has been debunked as an urban legend and people should stop propagating it for Tommy's sake.

[/ QUOTE ]

But lets continue with the Tommy Hilfiger trend. It became the hot brand to rap about and caused a huge boom in sales, but caused it to lose its original preppy client base. Now its lost both the Hip-hop clientele and its original target market. Perhaps Cristal is fearing the same sort of phenomenon.

Old school rappers would have gunned this guy down in the street and paraded his corpse. Jay-Z is weak sauce. "I won't support your products" ooh, how gangsta.

the reason it became a big deal for rappers was that it's a symbol of high class

[/ QUOTE ]

Would you say that the fact that he made a statement like that, shows that he is trying to reinforce this perception of "high classness", which the rapper's are chasing, but part of that "high classness" is excluding rappers? That would make the whole situation a big catch 22 circlejerk whereas the rappers are striving for status in a group in which they cannot belong by definition.

For Tommy's sake... LOL. Why would I care at all? FWIW there's probably a 75% chance of him being a racist regardless of proof not existing.

It's like ferraris, they only want to cater to a certain market to add to the exclusitivity to it. The people initially drinking it now don't want it anymore because it's so common and doesn't really reflect on your wealth and prosperity anymore. Also, the free advertising is going to a market where it's way too pricey for them too indulge in.

Assumptions like that are a big reason that race is still an issue with people.

I acknowledge that race will be an issue as long as people exist, so I don't take it so seriously and instead make jokes
