There probably like 5000 people killed driving their car today, but all you will hear from the media from the next ten years is "Oh my god, how did this happen and isnt it so sad". God, I hate the media.

Clearly, yes, the media, that is what I'm thinking about right now. Thanks for the contribution, GFY!

I really don't want to see the videos and hear the cell phone calls. Is there any way for me to avoid this? FWIW I've managed to see only the initial moments of 911 footage by shutting my eyes very tightly whenever it comes on and putting my fingers in my ears and humming Yesterday by the Beatles.

Endless Anna Nicole Smith coverage, sorry to lose you, especially like this.

Yes, because the kids sitting in class getting shot at with no where to go, should have expected some degree of inherent danger in what they are doing because, alas, 20 people are shot in their classroom every day for goodness sake.

Hey, thats not what I am saying. This is terrible, but I really dont have any intentions of learning more about what happened. Some dudes lost it, hijacked some planes and flew them into some buildings. Nothing about this is that surprising or interesting to me. I am just saying that the media eats this stuff up and their are probably tons of people with huge boners right now on all the coverage they are going to give this thing and then the live coverage of the funeral and all of that sentimental nonsense. It just bores me to death, but then again, I am probably alot smarter than you so I rely less on sentimentality.

[/ QUOTE ]

What's the difference? What is newsworthy?

i thought their were two shooters? and that one was dead already and the other was still on the loose?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope. They only said two shooters because they were checking just in case there was a 2nd. But they didn't find another one. Also, the shooter is dead.

I think what KKF is trying to say is that while stuff like this is obviously tragic, horrific and all kinds of other bad things, the fact that we're going to be exposed of a years worth of talking heads making various stupid observations and trying to make something more out of this than "sometimes there are crazy bad people who do crazy bad things" is less than pleasing.

and yeah, the whole thing is sick, but it is also equally sick to think of all the people in the media with huge raging hardons that this has taken place. they are so happy and thrive off death and destruction.

Also maybe they thought it was two shooters because the shootings were 2 hours apart. What a clusterfk.

Honestly, blaming the media for the coverage is pretty silly, considering how the public just eats this [censored] up.

Yep, I was more or less thinking the same thing. Here we are and we can't stop talking about it.
