I realize this is biased by my heritage, but I would love to see some love for Swedish history. For such a small and peaceful (today) country Sweden has seen some amazing military and political action over the years.

Good sources for movies might include a story portraying the rise and rule of Gustav Vasa, the monarch mostly labeled as the founder of modern Sweden. Or the events of the illfated march of Karl XII against Russia; resulting in defeat and his death (a strategic blunder which was then repeated not twice in history by Napoleon and then Hitler).

Alternatively I'd like to see a big-budget movie chronicling the legendary accomplishments of Simo Häyhä, the Finish sniper during World War II credited with over 500 confirmed kills.

Burton take an African spear THROUGH THE FACE and keeps going.

In "Braveheart", Mel Gibson takes an arrow in the shoulder.

In the director's commentary, Gibson tells us that in real life, William Wallace took an arrow in the face in that battle, and kept fighting. They changed it for the movie, because they didn't think the audience would buy it.

I think most of you forget that a $100,000,000 movie has to be entertaining. This ain't the History Channel. "Interesting" is not good enough.

Operation Dynamo sounds like a great piece for a documentary. But do you think millions of people are going to flock to theaters to see a film about an army that RETREATS?

ACT I: The boys are in trouble.
ACT II: "Retreat!"
ACT III: "Great job retreating, fellas! We showed them!"

Remember, "Pearl Harbor" didn't get made without the ridiculous idea of tacking on the bombing of Tokyo at the end.

Oh I love this film. I gotta add it to the 'great trash movies' thread sometime very soon.
