I wasn't too happy with the PSU/Michigan game last year. I believe I had Michigan -1.5 (although PSU was my favorite team and having a big year). So PSU is up 5 and Michigan is driving at the end of the game. I figure okay, either PSU will win, or I'll cover. But Michigan decides to score with 00:00 on the game clock. No XP attempt. Michigan wins by 1.

i believe it was a year or two...had a 12 team parlay with multiple dog moneylines...n i had TB+6.5 n they lost by 7 when tim brown dropped/fumbled a pass at the 15 with like 10-20 seconds left
was a $2 parlay to win like 60,000

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't think Tim Brown ever played for TB, unless it was another, lesser-known Tim Brown...?

He did, technically. I think he wanted to get to 100 TD catches.

Tearing my ACL skiing in Tahoe on the day of the USC/Texas 06 title game and not making it home in time from the hospital to get to a computer and place my entire Pinny roll on Texas +250 ML.

After already losing my ass in Vegas, it was brutal.

I think it was the steelers vs some random AFC team and the steelers were lining up to kick a game tying or winning FG. Either way, the steelers were going to cover. Well the kick gets blocked and returned for a TD and i am ready to puke. There have been worse, but that was my most memorable.

[/ QUOTE ]

I remember reading about this, here are the details:

Jaguars 30, Steelers 21 (9-22-97)

"Simmons blocked a Norm Johnson field goal attempt on the final play of the game, and Hudson picked up the ball and returned it 58 yards for a touchdown that was nothing more than a "victory lap." As he ran down the Steelers sideline, coach Bill Cowher made a mock motion as though he was going to tackle Hudson."

So the score was 23-21 JAX and PIT lined up for the game winning try with less than 5 seconds left. The line in this game was JAX -4 so you are right, PIT covers either way.

This game was featured in a "dangers of sports betting" article in SI where they told about a college kid who buys 20 contracts at $99 to win $1 before the FG try and ends up out 2k after the return TD. Ouch.

I was on the winning side of it - but the Chris Duhon half-court shot at the buzzer to cover the spread vs UConn in the Final Four was pretty strong.

Good things happen when you bet Duke.

Can anyone remember exactly what year this was and confirm this? I've been wondering if anything like this has ever happened in college football. I call this my "Overtime Scenario".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was this game. Jake the Snake. What made it even crazier is that it couldn't have happened in the first overtime possession. It had to go to double OT.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is not the game I was referring to. In the late 70's the PAC 10 had one year where they experimented with an overtime system. No other teams in college ball used it. This game happened then.

It was May 20th of this year and I bet on the Mets at home against the Yankees. The line is way too low for Martinez, so I'm loaded up on the Mets money line (IIRC, 1500 at like -130) and a bunch more on the runline (IIRC, 500 at like +165). Mets jump out to a 4-0 lead. Pedro is insane: goes 7 strong, strikes out 8, and doesn't even allow a runner past second base. Duaner Sanchez comes in and gets through the 8th on 6 pitches!

So what does Willie Randolph do? Brings in Billy Wagner into the non-save situation. He was barely warmed up and had this "WTF??? I have to pitch today??" look on his face.

So of course Wagner gives up two hits, three walks, and hits a guy with the bases loaded. Then the Mets fail to turn an inning-ending double play on a ground ball right to the second baseman. Four runs later, the game is going into extras and the Yankees win it in the 11th.

[/ QUOTE ]

Worst thing about these beats in baseball is that they happen slooowwwly. You just know you're screwed 10 minutes before it actually happens.

My worst in baseball was Roger Clemens on the mound vs the Yankees and the Red Sox jump out to a 10-0 lead.

Final...11-10 Yankees.

Probably about 8 to 10 years ago I had Syracuse hoops at home getting 4.5. They were down by 1 with 10 secs left with the ball. Syracuse drove down and got called w/ a horrible offensive foul. Georgetown came down and got fouled w/ 1 second left. After the guy made the 1st FT to go up by 2 some fans threw oranges on the court. The refs called a technical foul on the CROWD! The rest is history

[/ QUOTE ]Wouldn't the technical foul be only one FT, making max margin 4?
