Alan Trammell is getting less love than Jim Rice, Lee Smith, Don Mattingly, and Orel [censored] Hershiser for god's sake. That's horrible.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that has to do with playing on lower profile teams in smaller markets.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think it has just as much to do with the average age of the forum.
There are a lot of 18-24 year olds around here who don't have any real memories of watching players from Trammell's era.

In fact, I'd guess Jack is one of them and that he has just spent more time pouring over the record books than most.

lolz @ 3 people NOT voting Gwynn in. Even on 2+2 there is a hesitation with voting a player in 100% first year. hahaha.

A couple weeks back I perused Gwynn's stats. I grew up in the 80's and so I remember how good he was, but JESUS. Career .330+ hitter. I had no idea it was that high. To play that long, and end up that high is just SICK SICK SICK.

Over-rated or not, he was a rare breed. You can still be overrated and get 100% of the votes.

How so few people vote for Rice here and in the writers is beyond me.

How so many people vote for Rice here and in the writers is beyond me. Why not induct Will Clark while we're at it?

I can't imagine voting for Jim Rice and not:

Andre Dawson
Dave Parker
Harold Baines
Darrell Evans
Dwight Evans
Steve Garvey
Al Oliver
Don Mattingly
Jon Olerud
Dale Murphy

and a bunch of other guys that look the same.

[/ QUOTE ]

Were you watching baseball between 1975 and 1984? I don't mean this sarcastically; serious question. I can see debate about Rice but comparing him to some of the folks on your list is a little curious. If you were a fan of the game during that time, I'd be interested to here why you think Rice compares favorably to someone like Al Oliver.

You can't have a Hall of Fame and not include Wally Joyner, come on, look who we're dealing with here. It's Wally World, how can you not vote for him. I'm shocked he has so few votes...

And he has better career numbers than Alan Trammell and I voted for him too...
