[ QUOTE ] There's one big flaw with your plan...as you increase through the levels, you require a smaller and smaller bankroll for yourself (relative to the blinds). I don't care how easy the games are, you're setting yourself up to have horrible bankroll management habits. You should make 20 buyins at the next level the amount to move up at. If the games truly are EASY (which they are), then it won't take long to get those few extra buyins. NL2 until you have $100, then move up. NL5 until you have $200, then move up. NL10 until you have $500, then move up. zipppy [/ QUOTE ] I disagree completely, 10-15 buy-ins is plenty for 25NL. See AJmargarine's post on BR management (it's stickied.) [/ QUOTE ] You completely disagree because you completely misinterpretted my reply. My point isn't that the OP needs 20 buyins at these levels...I agree, 10-15 is sufficient to sustain his roll with a low ROR. What I'm trying to convey is that decreasing his bankroll requirements as he moves up is a bad habit. If he's willing to play NL25 with ~10 buyins, why start at NL2 with 25 buyins? It's fine to have less than 20 buyins at these levels, but be consistant with your requirements as you move up, don't decrease the amount of buyins you need at each level. As I said in my original reply, this will build up bad bankroll habits. later....zipppy |

I don't brag often, but... if there is one thing I know best, better than limit hold em strategy, it's roll management.
You made a good post and I like your plan a lot. This reminds me of my path, though I played limit. I started with $25 at .02/.04 and never looked back -- built that bad boy into several thousand dollars. You seem like a smart kid, and I'm sure you can do that same. I wish you all the luck in the world dude. Those people saying that you should start higher just don't get it I don't think. It's a quest... a journey of sorts. It's more about the poker than it is the money. I for one think I understand. One thing: promise yourself you will go down if you hit your floor. This take discipline. But you have a good plan for taking "safe shots" (as I call them). STICK TO IT! Please keep us updated. And again, I really hope you succeed. Greg |

Stupid question: will they let me cash out $500 and then reload for $500, etc.? [/ QUOTE ] Not if you cash out during the reload period. |

zipppy is right the one strange thing about your plan is that as you move up you are taking shots with fewer and fewer buyins. if 15 buyins is enough for 25NL (as seems to be accepted) then why would you need 25 buyins for 2NL? in your plan you are going to play 2NL with 25 buyins and take a shot at 25NL with just 9 buyins. you won't go busto if you are willing to drop down as planned but you will end up just going around in circles if you don't run goot.
