Re: Film/TV Review Requests: August and September bonanza!!! ZOMG!
I'd personally rank MNS's movies in this order (best first)
Unbreakable Sixth Sense Village Signs Even Signs I liked a fair bit except for the last 30 minutes or so. It makes me think maybe MNS deserves a retrospective like I did with Peter Jackson a while back - if there's any volunteers? |

Re: Film/TV Review Requests: August and September bonanza!!! ZOMG!
Okay, having reviewed African Queen, that's 'A' done, so 'B' is next.
This will be the little horror fest called 'Blood on Satan's Claw' unless there's any other suggestions for films/TVs shows available on DVD that start with 'B'... Here's the list as it stands: Blood on Satan's Claw Crossroads/Chasing Amy/Clerks Duel (suggested by Borodog) Eight Legged Freaks Formula 51 Gangster No.1 Highlander It Jerk The Keep Long Good Friday Man Bites Dog 1984 Once Upon a Time in the West Predator 2 Quadrophenia Romper Stomper (suggested by Odell) Spirit of the Beehive (suggested by John Cole) Top Secret Unbreakable The Vikings Wages of Fear Xtro Year of the Comet Zoolander |

The only 'B' movie on my Netflix queue is Baran, but a review of that could be nice for whenever it gets here. It's a foreign film from, I think, Iran.

Re: Film/TV Review Requests: August and September bonanza!!! ZOMG!
Okay, I'm already way behind on the place to do 26 movie/tv reviews in alphabetical order by end of September, and so far done is:
The African Queen Breakfast at Tiffanys So C is next, and I thought I'd let some of you people determine what content gets added to the Lounge under this choice. I've tried to pick films that may have not been seen by everyone, but nontheless are worth reviewing and maybe persuading people they are worth seeing. Here goes, and winner gets reviewed on Saturday. Choices are: <ul type="square">[*]Candyman - one of the great 90s horror movies[*]The Contender - a poltical thriller about a female contender for the vice presidency and the dirty tricks campaign used to try and stop this succeeding.[*]Cat People - Classic 1940 horror movie[*]Curse of the Demon (aka Night of the Demon) - cool little horror film about witchcraft and summoning demons[*]Chasing Amy - when a man falls in love with a lesbian...[*]A Chinese Ghost Story - Great horror/kung fu/musical/love story[*]Clerks - Kevin Smith's debut comedy about a day in the life of some store clerks[/list]You may pick up to three: |

Re: Film/TV Review Requests: August and September bonanza!!! ZOMG!
I don't think the 1941 Cat People is all that great. Here's a list of a few good "C" movies that you haven't considered:
Cape Fear - 1962 - Sorry, but the original is so much better then the remake. The remake is way over the top. This version is much tighter and realistic. So much better acted too, Peck, Mitchum, Savalas, Balsam. Chinatown - If you haven't seen it. I suspect you have though. The Citadel - Well known british flick from 1938. Croupier - With Clive Owen directed by Mike Hodges. |

Re: Film/TV Review Requests: August and September bonanza!!! ZOMG!
Actually I did consider Cape Fear (both versions) and Chinatown, but dismissed them as I think they are a little more mainstream than the choices I offered. People who fancy those can put in a text bid here though, and I'll do the winner.
I only saw Chinatown about a year ago, and thought it was fantastic. Polanski made some brilliant film back then. The other two I haven't seen or got, and I'm on a tight timescale... |

Re: Film/TV Review Requests: August and September bonanza!!! ZOMG!
okay, the project continues...
so far, I've done: African Queen Breakfast at Tiffanys Candyman Duel E is next, and after that, I have these lined up unless someone can suggest better: Formula 51 or Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill! Gangster No.1 Highlander It Jerk The Keep Long Good Friday Man Bites Dog 1984 Once Upon a Time in the West Predator 2 or The Punisher (Dolph Lundren version) Quadrophenia Romper Stomper (suggested by Odell) Spirit of the Beehive (suggested by John Cole) Top Secret Unbreakable or The Untouchables The Vikings Wages of Fear Xtro Year of the Comet Zoolander But now to E. I thought I'd do something a little deeper, longer and more tl:dr than usual, so want to the Lounge to choose between two great movies made by a true genius of film-making, David Lynch. What's it gonna be, his straightest movie, Elephant Man, or probably his most weird: Eraserhead? |
