Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the Mazzy Star album I bought. It just seemed to fall flat real quick. Sandoval was most famous for Fade Into You. She also did great song with the Jesus and Mary Chain called Sometimes Always. She's hot, too.  At the time Mazzy Star was enjoying their 15 minutes, I heard someone knowledgable mention (correctly) that Cowboy Junkies (fronted by similiarly velvet-voiced Margot Timmins) were the superior choice. I couldn't find anything with Hope Sandoval singing Sweet Jane. Perhaps you were thinking of The Junkies' rendition. Their music is too weird for me, but Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia has phenomenal pipes. ( Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence cover). She is also very, very hot. Also, it is much hipper to like them than Evanescence.  For those secure in their sexuality, and with a taste for the unusual, there is no greater pleasure than the young Kate Bush. She's definitely not for everyone. Once again, though- a mind-boggling range and very sexy in her prime.
