MDMA is a neurotoxin. And so is the dangerous and LEGAL dug, Alcohol. [/ QUOTE ] So are some neurotransmitters. What's your point? [ QUOTE ] It was the *only* study cited by the ONDCP for some years. When it was retracted, the ONDCP pulled down their entire page on MDMA, and had not basis for the claims that it was harmful as suggested in the study. [/ QUOTE ] Of course the ONDCP is biased and will use anything that makes their point. However, just because they are using flawed studies (I'd still like the citation) does not mean that other studies aren't credible. Unlike some agencies, I have no financial stake in whether or not MDMA is legal or not. I thought it was a very fun drug. However, it's pretty bad for you on a level of badness different from alcohol, cocaine, etc. whcih is why I say the things I do about it. [ QUOTE ] If alcohol is the "measuring stick" of what can be legal and tolerated in society, then I'll say that most of the substances on Schedules 1 through 5 of the CSA are inappropriately restricted. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with you there. |

Re: Ecstasy Users: Please Read
Doing a quick pubmed search turned up a couple of meta-analyses that do show strong correlations between ecstasy use and "sleep disorders, depressed mood, persistent elevation of anxiety, impulsiveness and hostility, and selective impairment of episodic memory, working memory and attention" for at least 6 months after use. It's correlational rather than causal, but given the animal work that shows specific molecular pathways by which the serotonin system could be damaged by MDMA, I'd tend to believe Ecstasy use causes those symptoms rather than the other way around.

[/ QUOTE ] Some of those are now out to 2.5 years or more. Also, many of the studies saying it's not neurotoxic are screwy b/c they ignore the role of liver metabolism producing some of the neurotoxic elements. Also, I PMed you on this. |

Government makes E illegal. Government regulates who can perform studies on E. Studies find reasons to keep E illegal.

Re: Ecstasy Users: Please Read
After useage about 5 years ago, I must say X is a fun drug but a very dangerous drug. We are still unsure the long term effects to human health over 10 years. Now it can be taken and use properly, and you can limit the toxic effects, but it will still have some affect on your brain. All I can say if you choose to still take it, make sure you eat a daily supply of 5htp and orange juice to kill the toxicty effect to your body from the MDMA.
BTW - Its probably the best drug to take with a female. |
