[ QUOTE ]
I think you are overlooking the fact that the flop was 234. In my experience, people almost always end up either not believing me in a reraised pot when the board leaves a 1-card wheel draw. And even if they do believe me, if they have a wheel draw plus pair or an ace with another biggish card, they are likely to attempt to move me off my hand if they think air is a decent part of my range.

I really like this. Players like him probably convince themselves a lot of the time that you would play AK the same way and therefore cant lay down an overpair.
I would bet like 4k here and call a shove as he could really overvalue QQ/JJ here.

its clear we're getting the money in here either way we play it.. so we're trying to extract max value vs. his tendencies and range.. i dont think checking accomplishes that whatsoever.

like strassa said.. your HH's and history w/ this guy shows that he will likely peel w/ AK b/c of the flop texture so why check and lose value? he also may be afraid of letting you peel w/ AK vs. his QQ-TT.. if you get in the mind of someone who isnt an idiot but isnt quite there yet you can understand that betting and auto-calling a shove is the way to go.

btw john the lawyer actually plays pretty well from what ive seen/heard from others.. does anybody know if he plays online at all?

of course JTL plays well, what made you think otherwise?

he plays online, or has at one time, but id rather not say sites/limits.

btw, ggbman, great OP.

and i like strass' post, and would bet closer to pot in doing so. maybe full pot, try and make it look like u could be pricing in ak or a flush draw. i think tt-qq looks you up/shoves more here with a large bet.

This hand is against the wealthy businessman, not JTL, correct?

This was close to my line of thought, i will post the results of this hand within a day.

Bill: Like Mike said, John used to play online and does play very well... he asked me if i wanted to play HU for 2 minutes before the next 2 or 3 people joined and i declined, he is hands down the best player i have encountered in that game by a HUUUGE margin.
