Re: Received call from HSBC after i deposit 500$ PS check(problem)
[ QUOTE ]
basically i called them up and they said "is this a online gambling check you recently deposited." i said ya and they said they do not accept online gambling checks and declined it. so basically i gotta find a bank that does now. i guess the smaller banks should accept it. man i just wish that not every bank starts banning checks from online gambling. [/ QUOTE ] i call bull, your original post was made on a sunday afternoon at like 2pm, and now you're saying you called them between then and 3am. maybe i'm wrong (and if I am, I might sound like a complete fool), but aren't most banks customer service lines closed on sundays??? anyone else think this my be lies by the OP because everyone was hard on him??? |

Well, HSBC is headquartered in London. So it's a bit into Monday ATM. I don't see why OP didn't just lie when asked where the check was from though.

didn't realize that was the case KotOD. nirzhar, i apologize for accusing you of lying...
and as Leader said, why not just lie as to where you got the check?? i mean, i can't see the bank cross examining you if you just tell them no and that it's none of their business where you got the check... |

Actually it is kind of their business since the passing of the UG act. If they deposit it they are technically violating the law.

Re: Received call from HSBC after i deposit 500$ PS check(problem)
You guys are blowing my mind here.
First of all the new bill DOES NOT RELATE to check deposits. There is nothing illegal about depositing a poker check. However banks are cautious and would I am sure rather not accept them. They certainly are not calling the government on anybody as the new bill does not have anything to do with individuals. I do not understand why this guy would not have just said the check was a refund (which is 100 percent true) and left it at that. Why even bother posting and asking here? All that he's accomplished is potential problems for other customers who receive these checks (and himself). Please use some common sense here everyone. YOU are the customers with your bank. If they ask questions you're not comfortable with then go to another bank. Certainly don't go bringing up online poker. This technically is not even poker related as you are removing your funds from an online merchant. I'm very frustrated here. |
