QT is more honest and straigh forward about it, and I'm not sure it makes him a bad guy, or a bad flimmaker, but it's not a good thing in my eyes.

I was actually about to compare what QT does with sampling but then decided it's not similar enough.

The thing about sampling (which I'm very much in favor of) is that when it's done "right" you're taking something old, flipping it, and making something new. I find the style that P. Diddy and his Hitmen made popular, of just using hte old beat with minimal changes really, really lame. When a really skilled producer like say El-P (album dropped yesterday, get it now now now) has an SP1200 in his hands, he's making new music.

In essence, QT isn't flipping, chopping or doing anything else to the movies he samples. It's my understanding that a lot of what he does is pretty much wholescale replication of shots and storylines.

I don't think he's THAT bad. I've heard rumors that he's stolen material, I don't really keep up with that kind of stuff though.

I'm not a huge fan, or even a fan at all, but I enjoy some of his standup.
