[ QUOTE ]
My worst ever day after was spent throwing up my own saliva, which after a while, started coming up with what looksed like yellow milk curds. I assumed this was bile- anyone want to clear up what this actually was? [/ QUOTE ] After awhile, you'd probably believe it was a piece of testicle. After all, what else is left? Especially after dry heaves.(if you think you're going to zuke, at least get some water in the stomach. Dry heaves suck. Feels like your nuts are being ripped in 2.) b |

even better than coke is warm coke syrup. basically simmer the coke on the stove until most of the carbonation is gone and it thickens a bit. it's delicious and very easy on the stomach. [/ QUOTE ] hmmm...I've always found the carbonation helpful. b |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] You didn't mention blood so I think you're fine to not be too worried? [/ QUOTE ] No blood but I really don't know wtf to think about those flakes? [/ QUOTE ] Dried blood can look like coffee grounds. But don't freak out I have a friend that pukes like this often. Tough it out I say. Sucks but you are tougher than you think. [/ QUOTE ] I do this too and the black flakes are dried blood. When you drink large amounts of alcohol it causes the stomach to bleed slightly(miniature ulcurs). Makes you wonder what the stomach of an alcoholic looks like. |

Had the blotchy eyelids and all. This was a sunday, and I didn't make it to work until wednesday. I was feelin a bit better on tuesday morning, but needed a day of feeling OK to get over it... Why does bourbon taste so good? |

[/ QUOTE ] I'll field this one. For dehydration, the resuscitation fluid of choice is 0.9% saline. The main issue is the sodium concentration. Lactated Ringers has a little less sodium and has some other electrolytes, which while important, generally don't make much of a difference. As a rule, medical doctors reach for 0.9% saline and surgeons reach for LR. Since I am not a surgeon, I always use 0.9% saline and check blood work to replace other electrolytes as needed. As an aside, LR is an interesting story. Basically, there was an international "contest" among physiologists to see who could keep a frog heart beating for the longest after it was removed from the frog. Ringer won. |
