If you're uncomfortable with using force to pin him down and glue them on then you won't be able to get them on. 2. They do work. The glue is like superglue, so they don't come off easy. 3. They fall off from time to time. As the cat's nails grow back underneath, they eventually fall off. So you have to monitor them to see how many fell off. One really annoying thing is that they don't all fall off at the same time. So to protect your furniture completely, you have to replace then one at a time every week or so.

I just trim my cats' claws every 2 weeks or so. Seems simpler than the softpaws. Oh, and I'm a bachelor with no nice furniture. That helps too.

We had the same problem until we got a scratching post. Here is a web site that shows a varied selection:
Scratching posts We bought ours at Pet Smart for about $80. Put a little cat nip on it and it solved the problem.

The first few times it was super awkward.. I just kinda slowly stopped walking and I'd be like "Dude, you're a cat" and shove him over on his side. Now it's pretty normal to see him bathing like that.
