I would actually say that you were to blame cause you left your pump. There should be a sign on the pump that says "Do not leave pump unattended" or something like it.

Considering gas is of mixed grades, they couldn't be sure the gas they pumped out of my tank wasn't from another brand, or octane level.

It wouldn't be re-sellable.


I was on my way to the casino at the time, didn't want to spend more than 20 on gas.

OP, they can't force you to pay and they can't force you to have them pump your tank. I've had the pleasure of being a gas pumper before (if only for like 3 months), and they can't do [censored] about it because it's an employee mistake. They eat the cost and you enjoy about 3 free gallons of gas.
